Greetings, human film lovers and their long-suffering feline companions! My name is the Potbellied Puma. You might see me as an ordinary house cat. But I am far more than that.
After watching TV with my human for the last eight years, it has become apparent that her taste in cinematic art is tragically lowbrow. I would try to steer her in the direction of superlative film by stepping on the remote repeatedly until the channel landed on Turner Classic Movies, IFC and Sundance. Unfortunately, my generous effort was in vain. She would simply laugh, scratch my head and then change the channel back to where it was – forcing me to endure the latest entry in the “American Pie” canon or whatever barely intelligible explosion and gunshot display passing for a film was on.
To save her and all other humans who unwittingly sacrifice themselves at the altar of mediocrity, I have become the world’s first feline film critic. My specialty is films that the Criterion Collection has selected for special acknowledgement and preservation.
